यो विश्वका देशहरू र तिनीहरूद्वारा शासित क्षेत्रहरूको कुल क्षेत्रफलको तथ्याङ्क प्रस्तुत गरिएको विस्तृत सूची हो।

यस सूचीमा प्रविष्टिहरूमा आइएसओ ३१६६-१ मानकका प्रविष्टिहरू समावेश छन्, तर यसमा मात्र सीमित छैनन्, जसमा सार्वभौम राज्यहरू र आश्रित क्षेत्रहरू समावेश छन्। यसमा संयुक्त राष्ट्र सङ्घका १९३ सदस्य राष्ट्रहरू र दुई पर्यवेक्षक राष्ट्रहरूलाई दर्जा दिइएको छ। आंशिक रूपमा मान्यता प्राप्त गरेका देशहरूलाई आइएसओ ३१६६-१ मा वरियतामा राखिएको छैन र तथापि उक्त देशहरूलाई यस सूचीमा समावेश गरिएको छ। त्यस्ता आंशिक रूपमा मान्यता प्राप्त राज्यका क्षेत्रहरू प्राय:जसो अवस्थामा एउटै इलाकाको दावा गर्ने व्यापक रूपमा मान्यता प्राप्त राज्यहरूका क्षेत्रहरूमा पनि समावेश गरिएका छन्।

यस सूचीमा अन्टार्कटिका महादेशका केही भागहरू वा युरोपेली सङ्घ[टिप्पणीहरू १]

जस्ता संस्थाहरूको व्यक्तिगत देशको दावी समावेश गरिएको छैन, जसमा केही हदसम्म सार्वभौमिकता छ तर आफूलाई सार्वभौम देश वा आश्रित इलाका ठान्दैनन्। यस सूचीमा क्षेत्र तीन मापनहरू समावेश छन्:[१]

  • कुल क्षेत्रफल: अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सीमा र तटबन्धभित्र पर्ने भूमि र जल क्षेत्रको योग।
  • भूमि क्षेत्र: जल क्षेत्र बाहेक अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सीमा र तटरेखा भित्रको सबै भूमिको कुल क्षेत्र।[२]
  • जल क्षेत्र : अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सीमा र तटबन्धभित्र पर्ने सबै अन्तर्देशिय जल निकाय (ताल, जलाशय र नदी)को सतही क्षेत्रको योग। तटीय आन्तरिक जलाशयलाई समावेश गर्न सकिन्छ। अन्यथा उल्लेख नगरेसम्म प्रादेशिक समुद्र समावेश गरिएको छैन। सन्निकट क्षेत्रहरू र विशेष आर्थिक क्षेत्रहरू समावेश गरिएका छैनन्। अन्यथा उल्लेख नगरेसम्म संयुक्त राष्ट्रसङ्घको तथ्याङ्क विभागबाट तथ्याङ्क लिइएको छ। द वर्ल्ड फ्याक्टबुक प्रायः संयुक्त राष्ट्र सङ्घका विभिन्न विभागहरू असहमत हुँदा प्रयोग गरिन्छ। प्रत्येक प्रविष्टिका लागि अन्य स्रोतहरू र विवरणहरू सम्बन्धित टिप्पणीमा निर्दिष्ट गर्न सकिन्छ।
