योगिनी एकादशी
असार महिनाको कृष्ण पक्षको एकादशी तिथीलाई योगिनी एकादशी भनिन्छ । यस दिन नेपाल र भारत लगायत विभिन्न मुलुकहरूमा बसोवास गर्ने हिन्दू धर्मावलम्बीहरूले व्रत राख्नुका साथै पर्वको रुपमा मनाउने गर्दछन् ।

एक पटकको कुरा हो धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर भन्न लागे कि भगवान, मैले ज्येष्ठ शुक्ल एकादशीको व्रतको माहात्म्य सुनें । अब कृपया आषाढ कृष्ण एकादशीको कथा सुनाउनुहोस् । यसको नाम के हो ? माहात्म्य के हो? यो पनि बताउनुहोस् ।
श्रीकृष्ण भन्न लागे कि हे राजन! आषाढ कृष्ण एकादशीको नाम योगिनी एकादशी हो । यसको व्रतले समस्त पाप नष्ट भएर जान्छन् । यो यस लोकमा भोग र परलोकमा मुक्ति दिने एकादशी हो । यो तीनै लोकहरूमा प्रसिद्ध छ । म तिमीलाई पुराणहरूमा वर्णन गरिएको कथा भन्छु । ध्यानपूर्वक सुन ।[१]
स्वर्गधामको अलकापुरी नामक नगरमा कुवेर नामका एक राजा रहन्थे । उनी भगवान शिवका भक्त थिए र प्रतिदिन शिवको पूजा गर्ने गर्दथे । हेम नामको एक माली पूजनको लागि उनको यहाँ फूल ल्याउने गर्दथ्यो । हेमकी विशालाक्षी नामकी सुन्दर पत्नी थिइ । एक दिन उसले मानसरोवर बाट पुष्प त ल्यायो तर कामासक्त भएका कारण उ आफ्नी पत्नीसँग हास्य-विनोद तथा रमण गर्न लाग्यो ।
उता राजा उसको दोपहरसम्म बाटो हेर्दैरहे । अन्तमा राजा कुबेरले सेवकहरूलाई आज्ञा दिए कि तिमीहरू गएर माली न आउनाको कारण पत्ता लगाउ, किनकी उ अहिलेसम्म पुष्प लिएर आएन । सेवकहरूले भने- महाराज त्यो पापी अतिकामी छ, आफ्नी पत्नीको साथमा हास्य-विनोद र रमण गर्दैहोला । यो सुनेर कुबेरले क्रोधित भएर उसलाई बोलाए ।
हेम माली राजाको डरले काँप्दै उपस्थित भयो । राजा कुबेरले क्रोधमा आएर भने- ‘अरे पापी! नीच! कामी! तँहिले मेरो परम पूजनीय ईश्वरहरूका ईश्वर श्री शिवजी महाराजको अनादर गरेको छस्, यसैले म तँलाई श्राप दिन्छु कि तँ स्त्रीको वियोग सहने छस् र मृत्युलोकमा गएर कोढी हुनेछस् ।’
कुबेरको श्रापले हेम मालीको स्वर्गबाट पतन भयो र त्यो त्यसौ क्षण पृथ्वीमा झर्यो । भूतलमा आउने बित्तिकै उसको शरीरमा श्वेत कोढ उत्पन्न भयो । उसकी स्त्री पनि उसै समय अंतर्ध्यान भई । मृत्युलोकमा आएर मालीले महान दु:ख भोग्यो, भयानक जंगलमा गएर बिना अन्न र जल भटक्दै रहयो । रात्रिमा निद्रा पनि लाग्दैनथ्यो, परंतु शिवजीको पूजाका प्रभावले उसलाई पहिलो जन्मको स्मृतिको ज्ञान अवश्य थियो । घुम्दा-घुम्दै एक दिन त्यो मार्कण्डेय ऋषिका आश्रममा पुग्यो, मार्कण्डेय ऋषि ब्रह्मा भन्दा पनि अधिक वृद्ध थिए र उनको आश्रम ब्रह्माकै सभा झैं लाग्दथ्यो । हेम माली वहाँ गएर उनको खुट्टामा पर्यो ।
उसलाई देखेर मारर्कण्डेय ऋषिले भने तिमीले यस्तो कुन पाप गरेका छौ, जसका प्रभावले तिम्रो यो हालत भयो । हेम मालीले सारा वृत्तान्त सुनायो । यो सुनेर ऋषि बोले- निश्चित नै तँहिले मेरा सम्मुख सत्य वचन भनेको छस्, यसैले तेरा उद्धारको लागि म एक व्रत बताउँछु । यदि तँहिले आषाढ मासको कृष्ण पक्षको योगिनी नामक एकादशीको विधिपूर्वक व्रत गरिस् भने तेरा सबै पापहरू नष्ट भएर जानेछन् ।
यो सुनेर हेम मालीले अत्यन्त प्रसन्न भएर मुनिलाई साष्टांग प्रणाम गर्यो । मुनिले उसलाई स्नेहका साथ उठाए । हेम मालीले मुनिको कथनानुसार विधिपूर्वक योगिनी एकादशीको व्रत गर्यो । यस व्रतका प्रभावले आफ्नो पुरानो स्वरूपमा आएर त्यो आफ्नो स्त्रीको साथमा सुखपूर्वक रहन लाग्यो ।
भगवान कृष्णले भने- हे राजन! यो योगिनी एकादशीको व्रत ८८ हजार ब्राह्मणहरूलाई भोजन गराउनुको बराबर फल दिन्छ । यसको व्रत बाट समस्त पाप दूर भएर जान्छन् र अन्तमा स्वर्ग प्राप्त हुन्छ । हरे कृष्ण।। yogini Ekadashi
