translit.js

Hi, I found out from m:Wikimedia News that you've enabled a JavaScript-based IME here for Devanagari. Have you considered placing translit.js in a MediaWiki message on this wiki? You can place it at MediaWiki:Translit.js and call it using:

This way, you can take advantage of the Wikimedia Foundation's caching systems, and you're not dependent on an external site for bandwidth. In fact, the Vietnamese Wikipedia has used something very similar (called AVIM) for more than a year now, and it's worked out quite nicely (see vi:Wikipedia:Gõ tiếng Việt, vi:MediaWiki:Monobook.js, and vi:MediaWiki:Him.js).

In case the script needs some browser testing, I can tell you that it works perfectly in Firefox 2.0 on the Mac, but not at all in Safari. (Safari also has problems with AVIM, so it's not because of this script.)

Edit box formatting problem with some Browsers.

There is a line on this page which lacks a space:
