English: Drawing by César Famin (1827) of a roman fresco from the Osteria della Via di Mercurio (VI 10,1.19, room b) in Pompeii. The fresco has meanwhile been destroyed.

The two characters appear to be tightrope walkers, but this is probably an error of the draughtsman, who mistook a shadow line for a rope.
